Hi, Darren here from My Hosted Exchange New Zealand.
There has been a great deal of “comment” and opinion regarding the performance of Apple’s new iPhone 3Gs, so we’ve decided to put this handset to the test – on a road trip around New Zealand.
We’ve also experienced an increase in the number of Nokia e75 handsets joining our Hosted Microsoft Exchange service, so we thought we’d take this handset along for the ride and put it to the test.
There’s a bunch of objectives for this test, we won’t bore you with the detail, essentially we are out to test how these mobile phones perform overall as an internet access device both surfing the web and accessing Hosted Microsoft Exchange from our platform at www.MyHostedExchange.co.nz.
In addition, as our country has a diverse (challenging) landscape, we’re putting these handsets to the test under marginal and poor signal reception areas in an attempt to stretch the tolerance capability whilst downloading internet content and sending/receiving emails on the move.
The test is based on our team of engineers travelling around New Zealand, with each phone containing a SIM for Telecom and Vodafone.
Our staff are reasonably intimate with web surfing and accessing emails, so who better than to give these phones a good workout.
The first leg of our testing starts in my favourite town, Tairua. Then, Whitianga and down to Tauranga before reaching Wellington before Friday 26th February.
Stay tuned for our junkett… I mean, tour of the south.
The timing of our tour is a little scary, and we were thinking of postponing after Telecom announced further issues on the XT network earlier this week, however they have managed to resolve the outage issue and Gen-i assures us the network is fully operational in all the areas we are visiting.
Yes, it’s informal, and maybe even a little comical at times, so join us for a little fun and some information along the way for two of New Zealand’s leading handsets, the Apple iPhone 3Gs and Nokia’s e75.
Best,
Darren Moss
